Obituary
Mary Theresa Allison – 1928-2023
Mary was born and raised in San Francisco. She was there at a time of fun in the city at the Sutro Baths, when the Golden Gate Bridge was built, when Fun Land at Ocean Beach was thriving. She was involved in sports in high school and was active in the Girl Guides, taking part in nature trails and camps in Mariposa County. As a young adult she moved to a working cattle ranch in Mariposa County and was a cowgirl. She met and fell in love with Hugh Allison and married him. Mary and Hugh moved to Merced county in the 1960’s and she never left. They had a working cattle ranch in Snelling for years. Traveling the Southwest and Mexico were their favorite past times and her collections of western art were impressive.
Mary is survived by 5 nieces and nephews: Theresa Martinez, Katherine Rittenberg, Joseph Peirano, Christina Ramirez, Daniel Peirano. She is preceded in death by two nephews: Lawrence Peirano III, Michael Peirano, her husband, Hugh Allison, her brother, Lawrence Peirano II, and sister-in-law Barbara Sands.
She leaves behind a good friend in Jennifer Palmer, sister-in-law Mary Peirano and many others.
As per Mary’s request, there will be no services. If you feel the need to do something for her, please donate to your local humane society as Mary was a lifelong lover of animals.
