Stella Drozdiel Karin, 51, passed away on Sunday January 22, 2023, at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk NY after a lengthy illness. She was born September 10, 971 in Dunkirk NY to parents Richard Drozdiel and Carolyn (Connell) Drozdiel Schmidt. Stella attended and graduated from Dunkirk High school in 1990. After that she attended Jamestown Community College and received multiple Associates degrees. While at JCC, she secured a position in the college library which became her fulltime profession for many wonderful years. Surviving Stella are the two great loves of her life, her children Tyler Karin and Shyla Karin both of Dunkirk, NY. Also surviving are Stella’s siblings, Debbie (Doug) Davidson of TN, James (Nicole) Drozdiel of Westfield and Sonja Drozdiel of Dunkirk. Additionally, Stella is survived by several nieces and nephews, and her stepfather James Schmidt of Dunkirk. Stella was proceeded in death by her mother Carolyn; an infant sister, Melissa and her paternal and maternal grandparents, Henry and Sophie Drozdiel, Grady Connell and Margaret Ashley. Relatives and friends are welcome to call Thursday from 6:30-8:30 PM, at the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc, 56 E Doughty St, in Dunkirk. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Roswell Cancer Center (in honor of her mother Carolyn) or the Lake Shore Humane Society, 431 E Chestnut St, Dunkirk, NY 14048.
