Obituary Laura Lee Paine (76), of Folsom CA, passed away peacefully with family by her side, on the morning of July 6, 2023, after a brief yet courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Laura is survived by her husband of 32 years, Bob Paine; two daughters – Jill (Cooper) Powell and Karen Cooper; younger sister Cynthia (Cindy) Hopp; son-in-law Jeff Powell and two dear grandchildren, Hannah and Cooper. Laura was a proud Chicago native, born to parents Frank and Dorothy Hopp. Upon graduating from Mother McAuley High School in Chicago, Laura married and moved to Orange County, CA and lived there for several years. She moved to Folsom, CA thereafter and lived there for 33 years before moving to Durham, NC to be close to her beloved grandchildren. Laura was truly at home in the kitchen, creating gourmet meals for family and friends. She was also an accomplished seamstress, enjoying many hours with her several sewing machines, creating Halloween costumes for the girls as kids and making several quilts for all. A lover of all the dogs and cats the family attained, and oh my – what a green thumb she had! Beautiful plants and flowers everywhere she lived. Laura will be missed beyond measure by her family and many friends who loved her. A Celebration of Life will be held on August 19, 2023 at 3pm, at Miller Funeral Home in Folsom.
