Billy Joe Groves, age 85, of Cunningham, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2023. Celebration of Life will be held 12 noon Saturday, February 4, 2023, at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with Bro. Benton Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home. Billy entered this life on February 26, 1937, in Cunningham, TN to the late Herschel and Ada Grimes Groves. He worked for Clarksville Gas & Water for over 47 years, where he was a dedicated gas inspector. Alongside his career, Billy was a long-time farmer. He enjoyed his cows and spending time on the farm. Billy was a devoted father and husband, nothing compared to his love for his wife, daughters, and grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, George Groves, Howard Groves, John Henderson Groves, James Groves, and Violette Groves. Survivors include his wife, Peggy McCurdy Groves; daughters, Stacy (Bob) Bendt and Tricia (John Jr.) Wallace; grandchildren, Matthew Hudson, John Riley Wallace III, and Claire Ann Wallace, and siblings, Evelyn Huneycutt, Virginia Groves, and Rebecca Huffman. Memorial contributions may be made to the Billy J. Groves Scholarship Fund for young farmers.
