Obituary Wilma Eloise (Matthews) Wehrle-Irvin, 92, of Quincy Village, Waynesboro, PA, passed away December 8, 2022. She was born June 25, 1930 in Parksley, VA to the late Paul Strayer Matthews and Maude (Lewis) Matthews. She was immersed in the Christian Community that would be a lifelong support from an early age. She lived her teen years in Baltimore and graduated from Maryland General Hospital’s nursing program in 1951. Later she worked for 30 years at Ridge Ruxton School in Towson, MD as and instructional aide in special education. Wilma was blessed with a large and loving family. She was fortunate to find love twice. She married her best friend and sweetheart, the late Gordon William Wehrle on February 2, 1951 in Baltimore. They lived in Towson, MD and on August 4, 1998 moved to Quincy Village in Waynesboro. They were together for more than 55 years until Gordon’s death on July 8, 2006. She raised three sons with her first husband with love, patience and humility. She later married the late Richard Irvin of Quincy Village on February 16, 2008 in Waynesboro. Mr. Irvin passed away February 23, 2018. Wilma was a nurse and loving mother and grandmother at heart. She was kind and always willing to lend a helping hand for those in need of her many talents, no matter how small. She will be dearly missed. Mrs. Wehrle-Irvin enjoyed knitting, quilting, singing, golfing, boating and volunteering. She was a member of the Chambersburg Quilting Guild, Quincy Needlers, Rhythmmaires in Quincy Village and Christ United Methodist Church in Waynesboro, PA. She is survived by her sons, Kenneth Gordon Wehrle, Bruce William Wehrle and Keith David Wehrle; daughters-in-law Ann, Valerie and Diane; step-daughter, Linda Dickson; step-son-in-law, Scott Dickson; step-sons, David Irvin (and wife Janet Irvin) and the late Richard Irvin, III; her grandchildren, Thomas A. Wehrle, Meredith H. Memmer, Meghan A. Cavallin, Matthew A. Wehrle, Christine E. Triplett and Elizabeth D. Williams and Meghan Irvin; her great-grandchildren, Jordan Triplett, Everett Memmer, Isaac and Judah Cavallin, Max Bosley-Smith, Marin and Oakley Williams, Hunter Wehrle and Magnolia Memmer. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Miriam Young and Carolyn Jenkins; brothers-in-law, Royal young and William Jenkins; and her parents. A memorial service will be held in January 2023 in Christ United Methodist Church, Waynesboro. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: the Benevolent Care Fund of Quincy Village, Attn: Billing Office, 6596 Orphanage Road, Waynesboro PA 17268.
