Ralph Dean Briscoe passed away peacefully at age 89 on October 30th, 2022, from illness related to dementia. Ralph was born on August 30th, 1933, in Tyhee, Idaho to Franklin Verner Briscoe Sr. and Eldora Jane Hansen Briscoe. He was the youngest of their 10 children and grew up on a farm, starting to drive farm trucks when he was six years old. He graduated from Pocatello High School and started studying at Idaho State College (now ISU). He transferred to Utah State Agricultural College (now USU) in 1952 and completed his second year before serving in the Canadian Mission. After his mission in the Toronto area, Ralph returned to Utah State University and met Lola Ballard at LDS Institute. They were married in 1956 and Ralph completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from USU in 1957. He did research work in Salt Lake City, then in Southern California for two years before moving to Providence, Utah in 1961 to accept a staff research position at Electrodynamics Lab of USU. Their children are Dennis, Bonnie, Tom, Michelle, and Brad. They have 25 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren. Ralph enjoyed traveling and camping and hiking with his family. He loved to help others in any way he could. He had a unique ability to improvise and fix things throughout his life. Ralph earned a master’s degree in Physics, and then an MBA degree from USU. He started looking for opportunities to own and run his own business in the Logan area. He started a Karmelkorn franchise in the new Cache Valley Mall in 1976. In 1977, he accepted a position as a scientist at Wescor, managing the water potential and thermocouple psychrometer business until he retired in 1999. Ralph was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints throughout his life. He loved being a home teacher. While living in Providence, he served as bishop, high councilor, and stake executive secretary. He and Lola served as proselyting missionaries in Guatemala and as temple missionaries in Lima, Peru, as well as serving missions with the Spanish group in the Logan Utah temple, fulfilling Ralph’s long-time wish to serve a Spanish-speaking mission. The funeral service will be at the LDS Chapel at 155 N 100 E in Providence on Saturday, November 5th at 12 Noon. Viewing and visitation will be at Allen-Hall Mortuary (34 E.
