John D. Garvey, age 83, of Goshen, CT passed away suddenly at home on Thursday, June 30, 2022. He was the husband of Linnea “Lee” (Wasilus) Garvey for nearly 63 years. John or “Dave” as he was known was born June 29, 1939 in Waterbury, CT son of the late William Nelson and Mae T. (Caffrey) Garvey. He attended Waterbury schools and served in the U.S. Army achieving the rank of sergeant. He attended CT School of Electronics and began his career as an Engineer. He started his first company, J&L Computer Sales where he worked in sales, and integration of systems and designing in products for many companies still in use today. He was also a partner of Northern Computer Sales, Inc., with offices in CT, MA and NY, a manufacturer’s representative firm for many years. Dave also served as chairman of the Goshen Recreation Commission and Board of Finance for several years. He loved talking to people and often remarked how nice the residents of Goshen were. He enjoyed organic farming, the outdoors, and vacationing in Maine with his wife Lee. Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, David Garvey of Torrington, his daughter, Karen (Gary) Mariotti of Litchfield, his grandchildren, Jon Garvey of Southington, Lauren (Tony) Testa of Plantsville, Bella Garvey of Middletown and Emily Mariotti of Litchfield. He was predeceased by his siblings, Evelyn Hart, William Garvey and Veronica G. Sheehy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 13, at St. Thomas of Villanova Church, Rt. 63, Goshen. Military Honors will be accorded in the church courtyard following Mass. Burial will be private at a later date.
