Obituary Eugene Franklin Crouse, Sr., age 86, of Florence, South Carolina, passed away at his daughter’s home in Sanford on Saturday, October 1, 2022. He was born in Marlboro County, South Carolina on October 20, 1935, to the late Arthur Platt Crouse and Annie Sue Driver Crouse. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight siblings. Mr. Crouse was a jack of all trades who wore many hats in his lifetime. He served his country in the US Air Force; he was a South Carolina state constable and an insurance agent for Liberty Life for 36 years. He also ran several businesses and for the past 15 years or so he worked at Pee Dee Auto Sales, where he was dearly loved. In his younger years, he enjoyed working with wood and often helped people with problems around their homes. Gene loved to tinker and could fix just about anything. He had many, many friends that preceded him and he was well known around the Florence and Darlington area. Gene always had a smile and a joke, and rarely did he complain no matter how bad he felt. He will be sorely missed by many, but he is in Glory with our Creator, Christ Jesus. Mr. Crouse is survived by his son, Frank Crouse of South Carolina; daughter, Marla Brown and husband, Adam of Sanford; grandchildren, Jordan Crouse, Eli Brown and Stella Brown and by his dear companion, Dora Miller and her family of Florence, South Carolina. A home going service will be held at Mechanicsville Baptist Church, 2364 Cashua Ferry Road, Darlington, South Carolina 29532 on Sunday, October 23, 2022, at 2:30 PM. Dinner will follow at Southern Charm, 1022 Pearl Street, Darlington, South Carolina 29532. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Christian Outreach Ministries, Pescar Ministries of Mechanicsville Baptist Church and/or Open Doors, a relief ministry for persecuted Christians.
