Obituary of Catherine Virginia Gibson Catherine Virginia Gibson, age 89 of Painesville died on November 27, 2022, in Painesville, Ohio. She was born on November 22, 1933, in Painesville to the late Embray E. and Blanche (nee: Harris) Jackson. Catherine was a lifelong member of Mount Olive Baptist Church where she was a Missionary, Sunday School Teacher, and a member of the Usher Board. She also worked as a home health aide and a cook at various restaurants. Catherine led by example and with her heart. There was always a seat at her table for all. Her Sunday dinners were the highlight of the week, and her signature sweet potato pie and banana pudding were some of the most loved items. She also loved to play cards, be it a great game of Big Whiz or Rummy. The games were always fun, and her laughter was infectious, something that will be missed deeply. She is survived by her children; Sue Gibson Curry, Eleanor Gibson, John Gibson, Jr., and Sharon (James Sr.) Douglas; daughters-in-law’s, Secil Ann Jackson and Leora Morganfield Gibson; and many grandchildren; great grandchildren; and great, great, grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sons; Embray J.; Keith, Jackie Lee, and Tony Gibson; her siblings, Embray N., Rosalie Hudson, and Fred Jackson. Visitation will be Saturday, December 3, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church with the funeral service following at 12:00 p.m. Burial of ashes will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Painesville, Ohio.
