Obituary Kulpmont – Andrew Joseph Foris, 63, of Kulpmont was called suddenly from this earthly life into the loving arms of Jesus Christ, his Savior on the Feast of Saint Andrew, November 30, 2022 at his home with his sisters at his side. He was born February 4, 1959, in Shamokin, PA, the son of Rita L. (Oshinski) and Joseph P. Foris. Andy lived in Kulpmont all his life being educated at St. Casimir Elementary School and then a 1977 graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes Regional High School. Andy attended Lycoming College with a degree in Criminal Justice. From a teenager and then following his college graduation, Andy chose to stay at home and work along with his Dad, Mom, and Uncle in the family business of Rhoades Florist. Following the retirement of John and Joe Foris, Andy and his sisters owned and proudly continued to run the flower shop with pride and care until its sale in 2018. You would see Andy designing floral sprays but mostly on the flower truck with the deliveries. His faith in God was foremost in his life. Reading Sacred Scripture was a daily part of his routine. He had a great knowledge of the Bible and not only kept the Word of God close to his heart, but also lived it to the fullest, by always reaching out to others and lending a hand without cost. Whoever needed a favor knew to ask Andy. He was most honest and dependable and his reputation for helping others was widespread. Andy had a great faithfulness to his family, first tending to his father Joseph during his years as a double amputee. He would transport him lovingly and with much care at home and to all his medical appointments including kidney dialysis until his passing. When his mother needed long term care and assistance, he took care of her needs prior to her passing. Andy had a tremendous love for all animals. He cared for numerous dogs and cats throughout his life as well as a few other unusual pets. In addition to the cats in the house, he also looked after a collection of cats living outside. His daily routine of feeding and caring for animals was done lovingly. And, if he’d see an animal that perished, he’d pick it up and bury it. He had many life-long friends as well as friendship with the guys at J&S Landscaping where he would occasionally do some errands. The simple joys in life gave him much pleasure like watching the seasons change, or seeing a flower bloom in the greenhouses, or the hug of a dog. Throughout his life, Andy was a very hard worker. His work ethic which was instilled by his father Joe never wavered. He always gave total dedication to whatever task was at hand. No one can replace the love and attention Andy gave to his family and his sisters. He is loved so deeply and will be missed until we all meet in heaven. Andy was preceded in death by his parents, Rita and Joseph Foris. He is survived by two sisters, Joette and Maria Foris, of Kulpmont, cousins, numerous close friends, and his beloved dogs, Leo, Benny, Frosty, and felines Arthur, BeBe, Lenore, Scottie….and others. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, December 5, 2022 at 11 a.m. with Father Andrew Stahmer as celebrant in the Church of the Holy Angels, 855 Scott St., Kulpmont. Please arrive in the Church by 10:50 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Casimir’s Cemetery, Marion Heights. At the request of the deceased and the Foris family, there will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Regional School, 2001 Clinton Ave. Coal Township, PA 17866 or any local animal shelter of your choice.
