Obituary of William John Sherman William J. Sherman, age 85, of Wayne died Saturday, October 2, 2021, at Morristown Medical Center. Mr. Sherman was born in Totowa, NJ the son of the late Charles and the late Augusta (Apel) Sherman. He was a proud US Army Veteran. William was a self-employed master plumber who owned William J. Sherman Plumbing & Heating in Wayne. He was a member and Past Worshipful Master of the Hawthorne Fortitude Masonic Lodge # 200. During his life he was an avid scuba diver, skier, and sailor who raced his sailboat many times from Massachusetts to Bermuda. He was affectionately known as “Pines Lake’s Plumber” by his many friends. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years Ruth (Bischoff) Sherman, his twin brother Henry Sherman and his partner JoAnn Carrara, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Charles and Kenneth. Visiting hours will be Thursday, October 7, 2021 from 4-7 PM. The funeral service will be Friday at 10:00 am will be celebrated by Rev. Mary Marcus. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, www.stjude.org or to the Wayne Animal Shelter, 201 Pompton Plains Crossroads, Wayne, NJ 07470-6318
