Obituary William Marshall Brown, Jr., 78, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, November 26, 2021 surrounded by family. He was born on January 8, 1943 in Versailles, Kentucky to the late William Marshall and Edna Louise Wright Brown, Sr. He was a graduate of Woodford County High School, Eastern Kentucky University, and the University of Kentucky College of Law. William started his law career in the Honors Program Appellate Section Tax Division of the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. From 1976 to 1978, he was the Assistant U.S. Attorney Eastern District of Kentucky, representing Federal Agencies in civil litigation in the U.S. District Court. William started his private law practice in December 1978 and continued until his full retirement at age 75. During this time, he also worked as a Citizen Assistance Specialist for the Kentucky Cabinet of Human Resources and as the Regional Long Term Care Ombudsman and the Social Services Specialist for the Cabinet of Health and Family Services, Frankfort, Kentucky. Throughout his long legal career, he appeared before the Supreme Courts of Kentucky and Arizona, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second, Third, Fourth, Sixth, Seventh, Eighth, Ninth, Tenth and District of Columbia Circuits, and the United States District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky. William was inducted into the Woodford County Hall of Fame inaugural class of 2012. He was a member of the Odd Fellows and served in the U.S. Army Reserves and Adjunct General Corps. William will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Brisja Rae Brown (Seth) Riggins and grandson, Brown Theodore William Riggins, all of Virginia. A private graveside service was held at Versailles Cemetery on December 4th with full military honors.
