Victor Bukovecky, Sr. September 07, 1926 – October 01, 2021 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| View Guestbook Entries| Send Sympathy Card HILLSBOROUGH – Hillsborough-Victor Bukovecky, Sr., 95, entered into eternal life on Friday, October 1, 2021 at home with loving family by his side. Born and raised in Manville, NJ to the late Metro and Anna (nee Popovich) Bukovecky, he settled in Hillsborough in 1955 upon marriage to his beloved wife Barbara. Victor proudly served his country with the United States Navy from 1944-1954 during World War II and the Korean Conflict as a Ship Serviceman 2nd Class. Victor served as Ship’s Tailor aboard “Old Ironsides”, the USS Constitution; as well as the Flagship of the Mediterranean Fleet during W.W. II. He was owner operator of Bucky’s Men’s Shop, Tailoring, and Dry Cleaning in Manville. Victor ensured that Manville’s Uniformed Fire, Police, and Postal Workers looked their best for decades; he also sponsored many Manville sports teams including bowling, baseball, and basketball for many years. Victor was active member of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Hillsborough. Victor was a life member of the Manville Fire Company #2, American Legion Post #304, Thomas J. Kavanaugh VFW Post #2290, the Elks of Hillsborough, Manville Senior Citizens, Hillsborough Senior Citizens Chapter B, and various leisure clubs. He was a charter member of the Manville Business & Professional Association. He had many interests and passions most notably gardening and fishing. In his earlier years he enjoyed bowling especially with the Fireman’s League. Other interests included playing the N.J. lottery, watching football and baseball on tv, and traveling the world with his wife. Besides his parents, Victor was predeceased by his wife Barbara Jane (nee Palahach) Bukovecky on April 7, 2013; son, James Michael Bukovecky in 1963; siblings Michael Bukovecky, Vilma Sator, Anna Sator, Mary Demko, and John Bukovecky. Victor is survived by five loving children, Victor Bukovecky, Jr. of Manville, John Bukovecky of Hillsborough and his longtime girlfriend, Ann Marie O’Connor, Jane Duke of Ringoes and her longtime boyfriend, Joe Nastasi, Jeffrey Bukovecky of Port Deposit, MD, and Laura Daw and her husband Jack of Annandale, NJ. He will be deeply missed by four dear sisters, Irene Potynski, Elizabeth Hydro, Maragaret Zujkowski, and Theresa Esposito; four cherished grandchildren, Aubrey Duke, Jarret Duke, Katelyn Daw, and James Daw; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835 on Wednesday, October 6 from 4-8 p.m. with a 5:00 p.m. Panachida service and on Thurs-day, October 7 from 8:45-9:15 a.m.Funeral services will begin on Thursday, October 7 at 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a 10:00 a.m. funeral liturgy at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Hillsborough. Committal words and interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough.Memorial contributions may be made in Victor’s name to American Legion Post 304, 429 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835 or Manville Fire Company #2, 13 South 13th Avenue, Manville, NJ 08835.
