Thelma’s Obituary Thelma Lou Lakey passed away December 15, 2021 at Medical City Hospital in McKinney TX with her loved ones by her side. Thelma was born July 12 1938 in Pineland TX to her parents, Richard Eugene Lakey and mother Roberta Glover. She had one sibling, Eugene Lakey. Thelma attended grades 1-12 in Pineland Tx. She played tennis for Pineland high school. Her daddy was an Assembly of God preacher so she spent her Sundays and Wednesdays on the front pew of the church! Her parents would make sure of it! Momma aka Granny would tell stories of how she would walk in church and sit on the back pews with her friends. Her daddy would say loudly “Thelma Lou come to the front pew!” It was funny when she told it haha. She had 4 children, the oldest Delma Gay, then came Cathy Ann, Sharon Beth and the baby Richard aka Richy. Thelma packed up the kids and bravely moved to Big “D” aka Dallas,TX. There she was hired in with Texas Instruments and worked there for 18 years. In that time she and the kids moved to Allen Tx and that became home. She retired from Texas Instruments and worked for Walmart for 20 years. She was a mom and dad to her four children. She showed her kids how to be dedicated and work hard. She loved to two step to country and western music. She was a lady of few words but was so quick witted! She loved her family. Her children and her grandchildren. Cecil and Donna Hatfield, Josh And Sarah Langley, Samantha Langley. Sandy and Bocephus Bolin. Josh and Angela Roberts. Emily and Damon Halbert. Kevin and Karena Smith. She got a kick out of her 13 great grandchildren. They all called her Granny! She also had 1 great great grandchild. Avery. She was a great person and friend and he family will miss her dearly. Love ya Thelma Lou! A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Starr Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Floyd Wright officiating.
