Sophie’s Obituary ANSONIA: Sophie B. Saloomey, age 91, entered into eternal rest on December 26, 2021 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport. She was the loving wife of the late Raymond L. Saloomey Sr. Sophie was born in Fairfield on February 8, 1930, daughter of the late John and Sophie Hoinacki Buturla. She was a resident of Ansonia for almost thirty years. Sophie was employed as a quality control inspector for the former Vitramon Inc. in Monroe, until her retirement. She was a devout communicant of the former St. Anthony’s Church in Ansonia and a member of its ladies’ guild. Sophie enjoyed cooking traditional Lebanese meals for her family and friends. She was also an avid bowler. Sophie leaves to cherish her memory, sons, Raymond L. Saloomey Jr. (Jeannie Dubois) of Bakersfield, VT, Michael L. Saloomey (Barbara) of Westfield, VT, Paul Saloomey (Cathy) of Fairfield and Thomas Saloomey (Amy) of Seymour, a daughter, Mary B. Saloomey of Ansonia, eight grandchildren, Jared, Adam, Michelle, Jake, Joshua, Kara, and Boh Saloomey and Michael Aube, a great-granddaughter, Kennedy Aube, along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, John, Joseph and Edwin Buturla and sisters, Sr. Regina Marie Buturla, Theresa Cahill, Stella Kochefko, Alfreda Beamer, Jean Traskiewicz and Alice Harmon. Visitation for family and friends will take place on Monday, January 3, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the chapel of SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Tuesday, January 4, 2022, her funeral will begin at 9:45 am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am, at Holy Rosary Church, Father Salemi Drive in Ansonia. Masks will be required for all services. Interment will immediately follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 1056 Daniels Farm Road in Trumbull.
