Sharon Elizabeth Gilbert, age 69, of Elizabethton, Tennessee went to Heaven to be with her loved ones who were waiting on her with open arms on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at the Sycamore Shoals Hospital. She was born on August 17, 1952 in Carter County, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her father, James Horace Bailey; her mother, Ruby Mae Vestal Bailey; a sister, Patsy (Bailey) Campbell; and her beloved little dog, Pepe. Sharon was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. Above all else she loved her family and her friends and will be very missed by all that knew her. Those left to go through life forever missing her are – her daughter, Donna Michelle Morton (Gilbert) and her husband Tim; her son, Larry Wayne Gilbert, Jr and his wife Jessica; her fiancé of 36 years, Rick Oliver; her sister, Betty Greer of Elizabethton; her brother, Wade J. Bailey of Elizabethton; her granddaughters, grandsons and great grand children; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; and her granddaughter who helped her and took her wherever she needed to go and whom she “hung out” with most, Kendra Barnett. The receiving of friends will be conducted from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton. A graveside service to celebrate Sharon’s life will be conducted at 12:00 PM on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Rick Oliver, Tim Morton, Larry Gilbert Jr., Wade Bailey, Bubba Barnett and Josh Morton. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 11:15 AM on Sunday to go in procession to the cemetery.
