She was a retired systems analyst for Jewish Hospital and an active volunteer for Jewish Community Center, serving on the Senior Program Board of Directors. She maintained several life long friendships and as a native of Philadelphia, she fondly remembered occasional appearances on American Bandstand. Sammi was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Mary Katz Schard. She is survived by her daughter, Michele Highley (Bret); grandchildren, Moriah Janes (Alan), Caitlin Gregory (Aaron) and Jakob Highley (Dana Jenkins); great grandchildren, Toby & Livy Janes and Mady & Mason Gregory; and sister, Susan Markowitz. Memorial visitation is 1-3pm Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road.
