Obituary of Roger A. Gustafson Roger A. Gustafson, 92, of Bemus Point, NY, passed away Sunday night, Nov. 7, 2021, in the comfort of his own home with his loving family by his side. He was born Sept. 14, 1929 in Lakewood, NY. He was the son of the late Karl and Almina Gustafson and a graduate of Lakewood High School. Roger was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Roger is survived by three children: Mark Gustafson and his wife Fran of Weddington, NC, Douglas Gustafson and his wife Cheryl of Bemus Point, NY, and Amy Carlson of Bemus Point, NY. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Shane Gustafson and his wife Sarah of Round Rock, TX, Heather Moss and her husband Stephen of Monroe, NC, Matthew Gustafson, Marine Corp veteran and his wife Maggie of Greenhurst, NY, Eric Gustafson and his fiancĂ© Bri Elliott of Minneapolis, MN, Kenneth Simons, Navy veteran and his wife Jessica of Auburndale, FL, and Robert Cybart and Jocelyn Bensink, both of Jamestown, NY; as well as five great-grandchildren with one on the way, new baby Gustafson is due in Texas in April, McKenna Moss of North Carolina, and Elizabeth, Alden, Benjamin, and Nikki Simons, all of Florida. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Roger was preceded in death by his loving wife, Beth (Cheney) Gustafson. They married on June 16, 1956 with Beth passing in April of 2000. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Donald Gustafson; three sisters, Gloria Scheller, Nancy Barry, Phyllis Miller; and a nephew Randall Gustafson, who was also a decorated Vietnam veteran in the Army. Roger served in the Army. He owned many businesses in the area including Sunshine Grocery. Throughout his walk of life, he worked for American Voting Machine, Blackstone Corp, and Sequoia Pacific. He loved to spend time in his workshop designing intricate wood creations which he loved to make for his grandchildren and bowling buddies. Roger is best remembered as a jack of all trades and enjoyed working with his mind and his hands! He loved to solve puzzles. He was a member of The Antique Automobile Club and loved to show off his ’57 Pontiac Starchief and his ’71 Chevy Custom 10 Pickup Truck. Roger was an avid bowler and continued to bowl twice a week into his 90’s. No service or visitation will be observed. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation to the charity of one’s choice. Roger will be laid to rest in Lake View Cemetery alongside his wife, Beth.
