The son of Charles P. Carey and the late Mary Carey, Phillip was an occupational therapy graduate of Utica College and served in the United States Army Reserves. Surviving are his son, Sean Carey; father and step-mother, Paula D. Carey, of Yorkville, NY; brothers, Michael Carey, James Van Valkenburgh, and Donald Van Valkenburgh; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be private.
