Pat was born on July 12, 1943 to John and Mary McAndrews Hynes. He was the grandson of Patrick and Mary Ellen Garvey Hynes and Patrick and Mary Jordan McAndrews. Pat grew up in Rosemount, MN on a family farm learning the skills of farming from his father and uncles Joe and Ed Hynes. He ultimately decided to leave farming behind and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in electrical engineering in 1965. From there Pat began working at Univac. He never needed a resume as he stayed with the company for his entire career through many mergers, buyouts, and name changes until finally retiring from Lockheed Martin. Pat had a green thumb, growing tomatoes, roses and especially geraniums which he started from seed and delivered to family, friends, and neighbors by the carload. Pat loved genealogy, becoming a family historian, making several trips to Ireland to do research. He enjoyed traveling to weddings and other events that allowed him to gather with his family especially his much-loved cousins. Pat was known for hosting memorable New Year’s Eve parties featuring a contest where the attendees would make predictions for the coming year. Some of the best times in his life were spent fishing or hunting at the family cabin where he would humor his niece and nephew by playing board games in the evenings. He also loved cribbage nights with his longtime friends and former roommates. Pat was extremely thoughtful and generous and had a talent for finding the perfect gift for each person on his list. There will be many sad people missing him this Christmas. Pat was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, all of his aunts and uncles, cousins (Bill Carroll, Larry Carroll, Audrey Corrigan Graznak, Don Corrigan, John Corrigan, and John Michael McAndrews), and dear friends Guy Courteau and Ron Podpesker. He is survived by his sister Mary Ellen (Robert) McDonnell, niece Maureen McDonnell (Scott Zieman), nephew John (Stephanie) McDonnell and her daughter Miley Charles, cousins (Kathleen Blair, John Carroll, Robert Carroll, Mike Corrigan, Mary Courteau, Ann Day, Margaret Eustice, Mary J. Hince, Margie Kirby, Joseph McAndrews, Agnes Van Tassel, JoAnne Zwirn) and their families, and close family friends the Machos, Van Thommes, and Ziemans.
