Obituary Michael “Midnight” Rudy, 98, of Berwick, died Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at his home. Born August 17, 1923 in Berwick, he was the son of the late Constantine and Mary (Secora) Rudy. Following his Senior year at Berwick High School, he went to work for American Car and Foundry (ACF). He became a certified welder at ACF and then worked for Berwick Forge & Fabricating (BFF). His employment with ACF & BFF spanned 42 years. Mr. Rudy also worked as a part – time custodian at the former Orange St Grade School for 25 years after retiring from BFF. He was a shop steward with the United States Steel Workers, and later became chairman of the local union. Mr. Rudy was a test pilot on the Stuart Tanks during World War II and again later during the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of Ss. Cyril and Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church, Berwick. Mr. Rudy was a dedicated member of his Parish, serving as an Usher and Finance Committee until recently. Mr. Rudy was a member of the Berwick Golf Club. He started there as a Caddie when he was 8 years old. He enjoyed playing golf and was a big fan of Penn State Football. Midnite was well known throughout the Berwick Community. He was known by many as “Uncle Midnite”. Preceding him in death were his wife of 38 years, the former Catherine Kisilitchak; two sisters: Mary Serdinsky and Anne Rudy; and six brothers: Stephen, Samuel, Metro “Tom”, Nicholas, John, and Charles Rudy. Midnight is survived by his son, Michael David Rudy and his wife, Karen, of Hilton Head Island, SC; and his grandson, Ryan Michael Rudy of Seattle, WA. A visitation will be held Saturday, October 30, 2021 from 9:30-10:30 A.M. at the Mayo Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Chestnut Street, Berwick, where a Parastas will be held, followed by a Divine Liturgy at 11:00 A.M. at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church, 706 N. Warren Street, Berwick, PA, 18603 with the Rev. Roman Petryshak, his pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Donations can be made to Ss. Cyril and Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church at the above address. Arrangements are under the direction of the Mayo Funeral Home, Inc., Berwick.
