Obituary for Mary Lou Fenzlein Funeral services for Mary Fenzlein, 73 of Giddings, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Warda with Rev. Dustin Beck officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 18, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, June 19, 2021 from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 a.m. at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. The family will be present for visitation Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Mary Lou Fenzlein was born on January 9, 1948 in Warda, Texas, the daughter of Walter and Lorine (Mitschke) Bamsch. She was baptized on January 10, 1948 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Warda by Rev. Paul Eifert and was confirmed also at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Warda by Rev. Herbert Hartfield. Mary was united in marriage to John Wayne Fenzlein on August 16, 1970 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church by Rev. Ewald Recks. She enjoyed traveling with John when he was stationed abroad, Germany being her favorite place. Mary worked many years in the deli at Brookshire Brothers in Giddings. She was known for her dewberry jam. Mary cherished her children and family and made sure that they always came first. The family always came together for a Sunday lunch of pot roast and potatoes and would get together on Christmas Eve to celebrate the newborn King. Christmas was her favorite time of year as she enjoyed all the decorations, lights, and songs sung in English and German. Mary spent many hours quilting and coloring. She passed away the morning of Wednesday, June 16, 2021 in Austin. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Walter & Lorine Bamsch; husband, John Fenzlein; and two brothers-in-law, Douglas Fenzlein and William Fenzlein. She is survived by four children, Laurie Fenzlein of Brownsville, Lorine Fenzlein and William Keefer of North Zulch, Cathleen & Vernon Smith III of North Zulch, and Scott Fenzlein of Giddings; ten grandchildren, Michael Eastland Smith of North Zulch, Vernon Smith IV of North Zulch, Thressie Sadler of Minnesota, Charlotte Cook of Normangee, Reba Sadler of Giddings, Charles Sadler III of Giddings, Kacie Hebert of Normangee, Dalton Hebert of Dallas, William Keefer III of North Zulch, and Wesley Keefer of North Zulch; six great grandchildren, Hunter Hebert, Carter Hebert, John Earl Eastland, Emori Bradford, James Mott, and Aaron Mott; one sister, Dolores & Allen Wolf of Giddings; two brothers, Ralph & Carolyn Bamsch of Warda and Raymond & Ann Bamsch of Warda, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Charles Sadler III, Michael Eastland Smith, William Keefer, Wesley Keefer, Clayton Wolf, and Olegario Puente “Jr.”. Honorary pallbearers will be Vernon Smith IV and John Earl Eastland. Memorials may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, P.O.
