Obituary Mary L. Swantner, 91, of Monessen, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday Nov. 23, 2021 in Hallsworth House, Monessen. She was born on September 7, 1930 in Monessen, the daughter of the late Giovanni (John) and Grace (Ascani) Cherocci. Mary was a graduate of Monessen High School and Westmoreland Community College with a degree in nursing. She was employed by Passavant Hospital, Jefferson Hospital, Washington Hospital, and retired from Mon-Valley Hospital in Jan. of 1996. Mary was Catholic by faith and a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Church. She was also a member of the Mon Valley Nurse’s Association. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Anthony J. “Tony” Swantner, two brothers Rudy and John Cheroki, and by a nephew John “J.T.” Cheroki. Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Kim L. (Tim Jones) Zubrisky of Greensburg, Patricia (Roger) Francis of South Park; three granddaughters, Mallory (Benjamin) Zubritsky Newman of Cape Coral, FL, Dr. Lindsay (Dr. Jonathan) Zubritsky Pollock of Ocean Springs, MS, Lea Francis of South Park; great granddaughter Quinn Josephine Pollock; sister-in-law, Shirley Cheroki of Monongahela; and by several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received in Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue, Monessen, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. Services will be held on Monday beginning with a 9:30 am Blessing in the funeral home followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass with Rev. Michael J. Crookston officiating. Interment will follow in the Grandview Cemetery, Monessen. Those attending the visitation and services are kindly requested to wear a mask.
