Mary Immaculata Barkofsky Tuesday October 26th 2021

Tuesday October 26th 2021
Mary Immaculata Barkofsky of Peckville passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, surrounded by her daughters. She was the devoted wife of A. Thomas Barkofsky, who died on December 27, 2009. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Loretta Briskey Willis and William P. Willis. Educated in South Scranton, she was a graduate of St. Mary of the Assumption High School. Prior to her marriage, she worked at Dean Phipps in Scranton. She and her husband owned and operated Four Seasons Florist in Peckville for over 55 years. Mary was a devout and faithful Roman Catholic who would never think of missing Mass. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, Peckville. She had a strong devotion to the Blessed Mother as she was named Mary Immaculata having been born on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, December 8. Mary adored her daughters. Her happiest moments were spent going out with her daughters for dinner and drinks at her favorite restaurant, Café Colarusso in Jessup or when everyone was working together at the flower shop. She was very proud of her grandsons and all of their scholastic and athletic achievements. She took every opportunity to cherish each moment she spent with her family. Many referred to her as a saint on earth because of her gentle ways, her kind heart and her selflessness. No one could make Mary light up like her husband Tom and they were blessed to work together hand in hand every day. They shared a magical relationship, in their family, in business and in life. And now, they are together again. Surviving are daughters Natalie Kalinowski and husband Attorney Joseph, Dunmore; Leah Mackrell and husband Mark, Olyphant; Rachel Barkofsky, Peckville and Daria Barkofsky Celia and husband Chris, Eynon; grandchildren, Jacob and Luke Kalinowski; Aiden and Tyler Mackrell; special cousin who was the sister she always wanted but never had, Nancy Sweeney and husband Daniel, Moosic; along with additional extended family and her two canine “good boys” Riley and Ozzy. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 8:30am from the Arthur A. Albini Funeral Home, 1003 Church St, Jessup with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, 1101 Willow St., Peckville. Interment will follow in SS. Cyril & Methodius Cemetery, Peckville. Family and friends may pay their respects Tuesday from 4-7 pm in the funeral home.
