Obituary Kenneth “Bruce” Utt Oaktown, IN with a winter home at, Lorida, FL Born 07/17/1939; died 12/25/2021 Parents: Kenneth Earl Utt and Ruth L. (King) Utt (both deceased) Siblings: Gordan E. Utt and Richard “Dick” Utt (both deceased) Graduated from Oaktown High School in 1958 Married Margaret Ellen (Snyder) Utt who survives him and they were married February 16, 1962; they would have been married 60 years this February. 3 Children: Dale Bruce Utt of Oaktown, IN, wife Wendie and granddaughter Aubrey Floyd (Jacob); Kent Eugene Utt of Vincennes, IN, wife Kristi,granddaughter Madison Rogers (Travis), grandsonMason Kent Utt; Scott Aaron Utt of Oaktown, IN, wife Debbie, granddaughters Briley Utt, Chelsey Pembleton and Kirstey Pembleton. Career: Bruce worked for Bob Green at Green Construction from 1958 to 1966 where he drove a B Model Mack semi-truck with a low-boy trailer to haul heavy equipment. After Green Construction, he worked for Texas Gas Transmission as a field operator for approximately 30 years, where he started in Bedford,IN and transferred to Wilfred, IN and retired from Oaktown, IN. Margaret was the love of his life, his high-school sweetheart and life-time partner. Bruce was an excellent spouse to “Margie or Mom” as he affectionately called her. You hardly ever saw them apart, especially the last several years. Bruce and Margaret loved to play cards and had several friends that joined them for a good game of euchre. Bruce was so proud of his three boys, their spouses and his grandchildren. He was their biggest supporter/encourager and thoroughly enjoyed attending the various events they were involved in over the years Bruce loved the Lord. He was a deacon for several years and a long-standing member of Shaker Prairie Christian Church and they attended Heartland Churchwhile in Lorida, FL. Bruce was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt, fish and basically anything to do with being outside. He liked to hunt anything, but especially quail hunting with multiple English pointers over the years and with his boys and Oaktown friends. You had better been ready when the dogs would go on a covey point, because he was one of the fastest shooters in this area. He once dropped 6 quail in one covey rise. He also enjoyed coon hunting for several years with local friends, Blue Tick hounds and Firecracker his horse. He really enjoyed net-fishing the Wabash River for catfish and did that for several years. He also liked tending to his sons’ gardens in the summer. Bruce and Margaret had a winter home in Florida where they had several friends in the Palm Springs Estate. Their place is on Lake Istokpoga where Bruce was known as one of the best Bass fishermen in that part of the state. Bruce was very gifted with his hands and could literally fix anything that needed fixing. Bruce took pride in keeping a neat house and yard and one of his favorite sayings to us boys was “don’t half ass things, do it right the first time”. Another one of his sayings to his boys when he wanted to show them how to do something was “come here and let me learn you something, boy”. Bruce was a hardworking, humble man that never wanted to be in the limelight. He loved to sing in the shower, but he could never remember the words, so he just made them up to his own tune. He also made-up nicknames for various households items and food. He really had his own vernacular that only family and friends could understand. This was one of the qualities that made Bruce unique and so likable. Friends are welcome to attend the visitation and service which will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 from 11 AM to 2 PM with services immediately following at 2 PM at Shaker Prairie Christian Church located at 3217 West County Road 1075 S, Carlisle, IN.
