Obituary of Juanita Vega Services for Juanita Maria (Torres) Vega, 62, of Abernathy, TX, will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, December 30, 2021 in Abernathy United Church with Rev. Miguel Torrez officiating. Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy. Juanita died Wednesday, December 15, 2021 in Lubbock, TX. She was born on December 27, 1958 in Paducah, TX to Natividad and Juanita (Torres) Mendoza. Juanita grew up in Ralls, TX and moved to Abernathy in 1973 making it her home. She went by many nicknames including “Blondie” and “Betty Boop” to name a few. Juanita was the caretaker for her parents since high school and also worked for Walmart for 7 years in customer service. Known as the joker of the family, she loved making everyone laugh. Juanita is preceded in death by her dad, Natividad Mendoza. She is survived by her husband Juan Vega, mother, Juanita Mendoza, 3 children Rickey L. Castilleja, Victor L. Castilleja and partner Tara Sanchez, and Jessica Castilleja and partner Mark Jalomo, 5 brothers Natividad Mendoza, Jr., David Mendoza, Manuel Mendoza, Beto Mendoza, and Jesus DeLaCruz and wife Amy, 3 sisters Ester Torrez and husband, Miguel, Josie Reyes, and Urbana Mendoza, and 4 grandchildren Keavy Castilleja, Sean Castilleja, Kylie Zerihun, and Skylar Jalomo.
