Josephine (Josie) Safko, 91, of Jessup died on Sunday, December 12 at Allied Hospice. Born in Jessup, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna Filyakovsky Safko. Josie was educated in Jessup Schools and graduated from Jessup High School in 1948. Josephine was a devout lifelong member of Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church. Prior to retirement she was employed by Skottie Electronics. Josie spent much of her life as primary caregiver to her mother and later to her brothers Joe and Nick. She enjoyed traveling with friends, doing ceramics, hosting Traditional Christmas Eve Supper for her siblings, and spending time on her porch visiting with family and friends. Josephine is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters, Anna Safko, Mary Thompson, Betty Kulick, Margaret Sepinsky, and Ethel Bocan, brothers Andrew, Stephen, George, John, Joseph and Nick Safko, and nephews Andrew and Robert Safko and Joseph Sepinsky. The Divine Liturgy will be celebrated Wednesday December 15th at 11:00 am at Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church, 313 First Ave. Jessup by The Reverend John Cigan. Interment to follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery, Jessup. Friends and family will be received Wednesday morning from 9:00 until 10:30 am at the Arthur A. Albini Funeral Home, 1003 Church Street, Jessup.
