Obituary Joseph “JR” Davis, III, 63, of Gouldsboro, passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Bethlehem. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the Shirley Ann (Paul) Learn of Thornhurst Twp. and the late Joseph Davis, II. Joseph graduated from North Pocono High School in 1976 and proudly served in the U.S. Army. Before retiring, Joseph worked at the Tobyhanna Army Depot and was a member of the Gouldsboro American Legion Post 274. Joseph loved the outdoors, whether fishing, hunting, or just walking/ hiking in the woods. His other love was reading. In addition to his mother, Shirley, Joseph is survived by his brothers: Jim Davis of Tuscon, AZ and Michael Davis of Chandler, AZ; his sister: Linda Mecca of Pocono Lake; his significant other: Kathryn “Kay” Hassan of Gouldsboro; his nieces and nephews: Jessica Davis stationed in California, James, Jacob and Joseph Davis all of Tuscon, AZ, Mark Mecca of Gouldsboro, Michael Williams of Mt. Pocono, Shannon Williams of Scranton, and his furry canine friends: Brandy and Tipee. A celebration of Joseph’s life will be held on Saturday, September 18 at 1:00 pm at Gouldsboro American Legion Post 274, 3rd Street in Gouldsboro. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Paralyzed Veterans of America: Donation Processing Center, P.O. Box 758589, Topeka, KS 66675-8589.
