Jorene’s Obituary Jorene Joyce England Cauthen, 93, was peacefully called home to the Lord Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Cascades Verdae Retirement Center in Greenville. Born in Lanette, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Alton Griffith and Annie Lee Hansen England. She was a registered operating room nurse prior to becoming a dedicated homemaker. She committed many years of service to the Anderson Free Clinic as a volunteer. Jorene was a devoted wife, family member, and friend. She spent years of her life in service to others, including her ministry of visiting and caring for those in need, the infirmed, and the elderly. She had a great affinity for God’s creation, with a lifelong love for flowers and birds, most notably the hummingbird. Her weekly tradition of lunch at Boondocks Cafe with friends became one of her favorite opportunities for fellowship as well as evening walks with her dear friend Ruth Barros. She loved listening to traditional hymns and calling friends and family to check in on everyone, offer some advice, or sing them Happy Birthday. Jorene was an active member of First Baptist Church and the Dorcas Sunday School class. Survivors include her husband, Irvin L. Cauthen; son, David Cauthen; daughter, Robyn Patrick; grandchildren, Brian Cauthen (Kristin), Michelle Choromanski (Rob), Wendy Murray (Chris), and Lindsey Cauthen; and great-grandchildren Charlotte, Audrey, Bennett, Nicholas, Davenport, and Zayne Paul. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Janice Moody. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 9, at Sullivan-King Mortuary Chapel conducted by Dr. Josh Hunt. A private entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Thursday at the mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 307 South Manning Street, Anderson, SC 29624, or to Anderson Free Clinic, 414 North Fant Street, Anderson, SC 29621.
