Johnny (aka Gonzo)’s Obituary Johnny (aka Gonzo) Dodds passed away October 15, 2021, with a look of pure peace and joy on his face. Johnny was of Baptist faith. Needless to say, Johnny was one of a kind. He was born with a disability, but it didn’t stop him from having a very happy life. He loved having fun, and he loved his family. He was proud to be a member of the Fairview class of 1969 and believed they were the best class ever. He loved cooking and celebrating with his beloved Swamp Riders. He was the uncle who teased (some say tormented) his nieces and nephews, and was a master snipe hunter. He taught them the importance of sticking together. He loved the Razorbacks, good books, good food, bare feet, headbutting, fishing, and playing slots. He was lucky. His BBQ sauce and pickled jalapenos are legendary. We were all blessed by his intellect and incredible sense of humor. Family who passed before him were his father and mother, Jim and Purney Dodds, brother, Kenneth, sisters, Genie Blouse and Barbara Tisdale, niece, Carol Ann Parkins and nephew, Joshua Ryan Smith. Broken hearted survivors are his sisters Marvine Mitchell, Vickie Smith (& Billy), Patsy Lee (& Roger), adopted sister, Mary Ann Murray, sister-in-law, Lola Dodds, and numerous nieces and nephews. Please join us for an informal gathering to celebrate Johnny’s life at 11:00 am–12:30 pm on Saturday, November 27 at Proctor Funeral Home. A light casual lunch will be served. His graveside service will be at Mt. Horeb Cemetery at 1:00 PM. Please add messages and stories. They will be read at his celebration. We would like to thank Johnny’s neighbors for their kindness through the years. A special thanks to his niece, Nan, for helping during his illness – from braiding his hair to fussing at him for insisting on doing everything his way. Thanks to Sweet Mama T’s in El Dorado for delivering their great food to him. Read More
