JOHN’s Obituary John “Jack” Nettekoven, age 88, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 30, 2021. He was born on June 29, 1933 to the late John and Anna Nettekoven and resided in Neenah. Jack worked for Kimberly Clark for 35 years and retired in 1987. He married Shirley Engblom on May 23, 1959 and they were blessed with three children. Jack grew up on the family farm in Sherwood and enjoyed farming. He was a gifted and talented musician who played the accordion, concertina, and keyboard. Jack played in numerous groups, but was particularly fond of playing with his brothers Ervin and Earl in the “Nettekoven Brothers Band”. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who truly loved being with his family. Jack is survived by his children Debi (John) Koch, Jeff (Dawn) Nettekoven, and Scott Nettekoven; grandchildren Jennifer Nack, Samantha (Joe Jr.) Duncan, Tom Nettekoven, and Courtney (Kevin) Nettekoven; great-grandchildren Jodarian, Ebony, and Collin; siblings Ervin (Janice) Nettekoven, Constance (Eugene) Nett, James (Donna) Nettekoven; sister-in-law Laverne Nettekoven, Marilyn (Gerhard) Nettekoven; along with many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Nettekoven, significant other Mary Ann VerBockel; siblings Elizabeth (Edmund) Buchinger, Jerome (Wilma/Dorothy) Nettekoven, Alois (Shirley) Nettekoven, Dorothy (Gilbert) Schroeder, Earl (Geneva) Nettekoven; father-in-laws Arthur Engblom. James Todd; mother-in-law Theresa Todd; brother-in-law David (Dawn/Dottie) Engblom. As his spirit begins a new and adventurous journey, he left this world well loved, well lived, and well read. He devoted his life to being the best husband and father he could be and to helping others. He was a very respectful man, a man of high integrity and very quick witted. Jack was truly one of a kind and will be sadly missed but never forgotten. Heaven gained a kind and gentle angel. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to ThedaCare at Home Hospice especially Ashley, Nicole, Christina, Roberta, Jeanie, Tanya, and Karen for their love and compassion and all the wonderful care they provided. The family would also like to thank Andrew at Westgor Funeral Home for his guidance and comfort during this difficult time. The funeral service for Jack will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, November 12, 2021 at Menasha’s Westgor Funeral Home, 1140 Appleton Road, Menasha.
