Adamek Sr., age 82, passed away peacefully at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Minneapolis in the early morning hours of December 26, 2021 due to complications from frontotemporal dementia (FTD). He was born September 23, 1939 to John and Evelyn (Pelant) Adamek on the family farm in Lonsdale (Wheatland Township), Minnesota. Jack graduated from Montgomery High School in 1957 and enlisted in the Army in 1961, where he worked on fuel and electrical systems. He was honorably discharged in January 1963. He attended the Minneapolis Area Vocational-Technical School, graduating with certificates in welding and fixture design. He worked in many positions over the years, including the family farm, maintenance and small machinery. Jack was a family man who took great pride in his marriage and children. After being diagnosed with dementia, he wanted nothing more than to celebrate his 50 year wedding anniversary with his beloved wife, Mary, which he accomplished with a big party in April 2019. Jack and Mary met on a blind date when he was a drummer in a combo and they wed on April 25, 1969. Jack played drums in three different bands as well as in many church services at All Saints Church, where he and Mary were members for many years. One of his proudest accomplishments was being a Boy Scout Leader and receiving the Silver Beaver Award, the highest award a scout leader can achieve for exceptional character and providing distinguished service. Jack loved to weld, make things out of wood and fix anything that needed fixing. He was proud of his work on the ship he designed and built outside of the Chart House in Lakeville. His family and friends will always remember him for his big smile and infectious laugh. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Alice (Pagel) Adamek; their children Jennifer (Rodney) Carlson, John (Patricia) Adamek, Juliette (Philip) Charlson, Jeffrey (Renee) Adamek and Joshua Adamek; grandchildren Kalley and Zackary Carlson, Mikayla Charlson, Estelle Adamek; Danielle, Melissa and Michael (Jenn) O’Hara; sister Rose Mary (Joseph) Koktavy; along with nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, John James and Evelyn Rose (Pelant) Adamek, son Michael John Adamek and nephew Joseph John Koktavy. A mass will be held at 11:30 am on January 3, 2022 at All Saints Church in Lakeville with a luncheon to follow. Visitation will also be held at All Saints one hour prior. Interment at Calvary Cemetery in Lonsdale. The family requests that all in attendance wear a mask.
