Obituary Jean (DiMartino) Ponterio, 94, of Pershing Square in Greensburg, was welcomed into Heaven by her Lord Jesus Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021, with her loving family by her side. She was born and raised in Jeannette with her siblings and parents, the late Rosa and Nicholas DiMartino. She grew up in the height of the Great Depression, inheriting her Italian parents’ hardworking and resilient spirits. She became a cleaning woman with her sister, serving homes throughout the area. Though she experienced many trials in her lifetime, her spirit was always jovial, loving and compassionate. As a wife, mother, aunt and grandmother, she exuded these characteristics to her family and anyone she met, which flowed from her love for Jesus. She loved the Lord and was a beacon of light to those around her. She was a faithful member of Living Word Congregation and enjoyed attending services each Sunday. Jean loved to cook her traditional Italian recipes for her family and she loved sending cards for every holiday to her family and friends, each bedazzled with stickers. She unfailingly imparted her stories and wisdom to anyone who cared to listen. Her favorite daily activities were reading God’s Word and watching Christian programs while enjoying sweets, especially ice cream. She was predeceased by her late husband, Julius Ponterio Sr.; and her beloved son, John Ponterio. Also preceding her were her siblings, Mary Danton, Liz Austin, Lee Danton, Josephine Hoenshel and Lawrence DiMartino. Her greatest joy and legacy is her family, consisting of her six remaining children, Sona Ponterio, Mike Ponterio and wife, Sue, Julius Ponterio. Jr. and wife, Barb, Dean Ponterio and wife, Marci, Gina Howard and husband, Ken, and Lisa Dreano; her daughter in law, Maria Ponterio; along with her 12 grandchildren, Lisa Belt, Andrew Ponterio, Michael Ponterio, Nikki Lauricia, Gianna Ponterio, Catherine, Jonathan and Christopher Ponterio, Jeffrey and Kelly Ponterio, Leah Howard, and Jim Dreano; and her nine great-grandchildren, Donald, Max and Gwyneth Belt, Donald, Jionni and Adalina Lauricia, Giovani Ponterio, Ashlynn Johnson, and Sienna Dreano. The family would like to thank Redstone Highlands, Greensburg, for their care and compassion towards Mom and thank Dr. Matthew Donofrio and his staff for attending to her needs throughout her life. Mom will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts until we meet again. Psalm 116:15: “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants.” Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Jean from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2021, in the CLEMENT L.
