Jane’s Obituary On the evening of Tuesday, September 21, 2021, Jane Culwell Graves, age 75, after a brief illness with cancer, passed peacefully from this life into her new life in the loving arms of our Lord. Jane was born July 1, 1946, in Bartow, FL to Bert Vinson Culwell and Laura Ashwander. She graduated from Choctawhatchee High School in Niceville, FL and Carraway Methodist Hospital Nursing School, Birmingham, AL and worked there for 13 years as a House Supervisor. The next 30 years she worked as a House Supervisor at West Florida Hospital in Pensacola, FL and ultimately retired 13 years ago. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Johnny. Jane is survived by her husband, Fr. Bob Graves; her sister, Mary Ann Saul (Norman); two nieces, Julia Mechler (Jim) and Alyssa Lyon (Jim); nephew, Kevin Saul (Monica); as well as several great-nieces and stepdaughters. Anyone who ever met or spent time with Jane, could immediately recognize God’s love and presence in her life. While at Baptist Hospital and Covenant Hospice at Sacred Heart Hospital the nurses were amazed at her radiance of love. She had an open heart to all people, and she never restricted that love in her from anyone. Jane was able to maintain this love even through sickness and pain. She was fun, adventurous, and she loved roaming beaches especially in Mexico Beach – St. Jo Bay area looking for seashells. She was a wonderful friend and partner in marriage. People of all ages were drawn to her because they felt special, loved, and safe. All this sounds amazing because she was even the same with animal creatures. A memorial service, to celebrate and give thanks to God for the life of Jane, will be held 10:00am Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at Christ Episcopal Church, corner of Wright St. and Palafox.
