He was born on August 16, 1940 to Edna Harlow Tucker and Harry Atwood Tucker of Orange, Virginia. Following brief Army service, Randy married Nancy and worked his way to graduation from Virginia Commonwealth University (BS, 1969). After VCU, he entered employment with the Internal Revenue Service as a Revenue Officer serving 32 years and retiring in 1994 having been named 1990 national Revenue Officer of the Year. In retirement, Randy enjoyed travel and RV camping with his family. He worked as a part time Logistics Technician for Henrico Fire where he enriched the lives of those he met, always with a smile, on his rounds. He was a lifelong volunteer firefighter serving faithfully in the communities of Orange, Rockville (Hanover) and Holly Grove (Louisa). Second only to his own home and family, Randy’s favorite place and people were whichever fire station he found himself and its various inhabitants. Finally, he reserved a special place in his heart for his beloved canine, feline and equine sidekicks over the years too numerous to name. This wonderful man was predeceased by his parents and survived by his cherished wife and friend of 56 years, Nancy C. Tucker; son, William R. Tucker (Karen); and daughter, Jennifer D. Tucker all of Glen Allen. Survivors also include his brother, J. Nelson Tucker of Gordonsville; sister, Mary Frances White of Charlottesville; and three adored grandchildren, Jay, Sam and Ginny Tucker of Glen Allen. Well done good and faithful servant…Enter into the joy of your Lord. (Matthew 25:21) A January visitation and memorial service with private burial is planned.
