Obituary Of East Pittsburgh, age 82, died on Saturday, December 11, 2021. Jim was born in Meyersdale, Somerset County, and was the last surviving of 16 children of Paul and Grace (Beal) Gerhard. Jim is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carol (Schradel) Gerhard; his children, Michael Gerhard of East Pittsburgh and Amy (Randy) Klocke of Penn Hills; and his grandson, Tyler Klocke. Jim is also survived by his best friend, Bob McCarter of Turtle Creek. Jim was the special uncle of Ray “Skip” Lee of Everett, the late Donna (late Butch) DePaulo and many other nieces and nephews. Jim was a retired employee of East Pittsburgh Borough, and he also was a well-known bartender. For a second job, Jim tended bar at many East Pittsburgh establishments including: Rocky’s, the Fallout, The A & M, Kelly’s, The East Pittsburgh Moose, the East Pittsburgh Fireman’s Club, and the East Pittsburgh American Legion. Since his retirement, Jim learned golfing and fishing and returned to his passion for hunting, learning the art of shooting with a muzzle loaded rifle. Jim also was an excellent pool shooter for many years and earned a reputation for being a ‘pool shark’. Friends are welcome on Tuesday from 2-8pm at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 700 Linden Avenue at Cable Avenue, East Pittsburgh (412-824-8800) where a Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Jim will be laid to rest in Restland Memorial Park.
