George C. Kessler, 88, of York, formerly of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at ManorCare York South. Born on Thursday, January 26, 1933 in Hanover, he was the son of the late Charles D. and Bertha Mae Renoll Kessler. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Henrietta P. “Pearl” Kessler, who died in 2014. George took great pleasure in driving and would pursue jobs that gave him that opportunity. He loved driving tour busses and visiting different locations and attractions. He was a member of the Hanover Republican Club and enjoyed listening to gospel music and going to the concerts. A car enthusiast, George watched NASCAR and in his younger years, he would collect Corvairs, Thunderbirds and Rivieras. Survivors include three children, Steven A. (Dory) Kessler of Mechanicsburg, Karen L. (Robert) Topper and Scott A. (Bonnie Bowers) Kessler, all of Hanover; six grandchildren, Matthew S. (Sarah) Kessler, Rachel E. (Zachary) Tekely, Jason D. Toot, Erin R. (Franky) Duffy, Amber L. (Jonathan) Beckner, and Annie M. Kessler; and seven great-grandchildren, Piper L. Duffy, Emma L. Tekely, Mya Pearl Beckner, Finn J. Duffy, Grant A. Kessler, Ethan A. Kessler and Zaden S. Tekely. A private service is being planned. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Children’s Miracle Network, 1249 Cocoa Ave #115, Hershey, PA 17033 or to the Ronald McDonald House, 745 W. Governor Road, Hershey 17033.
