Obituary Gaylord J. Epperson, age 85, passed away Monday December 6, 2021 at his home from an apparent heart attack. He was born on March 19, 1936 on a farm North of Missouri Valley, Iowa to Wilbur and Ida (Purcell) Epperson. Gaylord attended country grade schools and graduated from Magnolia High School in 1953. He and Mary Ann Forde were married on January 8, 1955 at St. Bridget’s in Magnolia. Gaylord retired from Union Pacific after 33 years of service, he was a Computer Systems Engineer. Gaylord was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. He served on parish boards, was a director of the Catholic Community Credit Union, served 9 years on the St. Albert Foundation Board, and he was a member of the St. Albert Ambassadors. In addition to his parents, Gaylord was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Epperson; brothers, Wayne and Dorris; infant sister, Twyla June; sister, Annis Aiyar (Venkatram). Survivors include loving wife, Mary Ann; daughter Julie Barak Phillips, Ph.D. (Steve) of Grand Junction, Colorado; sons, Stephen & JoAnn (Mrkacek) Epperson and Nicholas & Annette (White) Epperson both of Council Bluffs; daughter-in-law Deanna (Forsberg) of Fremont, Nebraska; son Douglas Epperson, MD and friend Abel Cruz of San Francisco, CA; brother-in-law, Venkatram Aiyar of Oakland, CA; 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends. Recitation of the Rosary Thursday at 6:15 p.m. followed by Visitation until 8:00 p.m. at funeral home. Private Family Mass of Christian Burial on Friday. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery.
