Obituary Faye Welch Presnell, age 87, went to be with the Lord Friday, February 12, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. Faye was born March 2, 1933 in Swain County, NC to the late General J. Welch and Hattie P. Welch. She was a member of Rocky Pass Free Will Baptist Church and retired from Broyhill Furniture after many years of service. Faye loved spending time with her family, working in her garden, and canning food to share with others. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Worley Presnell; her son, Paul Ray Presnell; infant daughter, Christine Presnell; infant grandson, Michael Presnell; and four siblings, Vester Welch, Sallie Gillstrap, Ray Welch and Corine Poe. Those left behind to cherish Faye’s memory are six children, Ralph Presnell (Florie) of Black Mountain, NC, Tootie Parker (Pug) of Nebo, NC, Debra Bailey (John) of Spruce Pine, NC, Cathy Biddix (Adam) of Marion, NC, Danny Presnell (Pam) of Nebo, NC and Stephanie Salsberry (Ryan) of Citrus Heights, CA; a special niece, Shirley Gillstrap of Nebo, NC; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service to celebrate Faye’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at McDowell Memorial Park with Rev. Bobby Shehan and Rev. Alan Sailors officiating.
