Ellis Phillip(EP)Johnson Jr, 83 of Indian Trail passed away November 2, 2021 at Levine and Dickson Hospice House of Charlotte. Ellis is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shirley, his sons, Ellis P Johnson III (Janna), Terry Johnson (Sabrina) and daughter Sheila Hartis (Joel), his grandchildren Ellis P Johnson IV and Chyna Johnson, Kristen Jackson (David) and Eric (Merry) Johnson, and 1 great grandchild Hunter Jackson. He is also survived by his last remaining sibling Priscilla Uselding (Nick) of Amarillo Texas. Mr. Johnson was born in Hartsville SC August 15, 1938 to Ellis P and Mamie (Steen)Johnson. He was a paint contractor for 45 years. He was a great husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends! Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents and his granddaughter Chelsea Rhyan, his brother Charles, Vernon, Ben, Howard and Gordon, his sisters Fate, Shelby, Carolyn and Vicki. Per his request in lieu of flowers donations can be made to St Jude Children’s Hospital or Hospice of Charlotte. The family will receive friends at the home on Friday November 5 from 2-6 pm. We sat beside your bedside, Our hearts were crushed and sore; We did our best to the end ‘Til we could do no more. In tears we watched you sinking We watched you fade away; And though our hearts were breaking, We knew you could not stay. You left behind some aching hearts, That loved you most sincere.
