HOPEWELL JUNCTION – Elaine M. Brooks, 86, an area resident for over 17 years, died peacefully at home on November 24, 2021. She previously lived in Yorktown Heights, NY. Born in Yonkers, NY, on May 28, 1935, Elaine was the daughter of the late Michael and Julia Muraik. She worked at General Foods in White Plains, NY, before leaving to raise her family. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree at Mercy College in Yorktown Heights, NY, and then pursued her passion as an artist for many years, excelling in botanical watercolors, photography, and calligraphy. On January 30, 1960 at Christ the King Church in Yonkers, NY, she married the love of her life, Dennis F. Brooks, who predeceased her in 2010 soon after they joyfully celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Alison and John Jones of Jacksonville, AL, Michael and Debbie Brooks of Brookfield, CT, and Karina and Steve Saslow of Hopewell Junction, NY; her grandchildren, Christopher, Katherine, and Matthew Brooks and Julia Saslow; her nephew, Bob Muraik; and her niece, Margie Pearce and their families. In addition to her husband and parents, Elaine was also predeceased by her brother, Robert Muraik. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 3 from 6-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday at 10am at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction, NY.
