Edwin Forrest Lee of Somers, CT passed away on January 11, 2021. Born on January 3, 1933 in Paterson, NJ, he was the son of the late Ruth Maldfeld (Lee) Gray and Edwin Thomas Lee. Ed served his country, state, and town. He loved America, the US Navy, and most of all, his family. He was a veteran of the US Navy, and worked at Southern New England Telephone for many years. He also served as a police officer for the town of Somers and received the Medal of Honor for his role in a violent shootout with 2 escaped convicts. Edwin is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Beverly Ann (McGuire) Lee of Somers. He is also survived by his daughter, Lori Jean Ludecke and her husband James of Ridgeway, VA; his son, Edwin Thomas Lee II of Anchorage, AK, and his brother, Allan K. Lee of Quakertown, PA. He was predeceased by his brother, Quinton Craig Gray of Bloomfield, CT who passed away on October 4, 2018. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, and several friends and fellow colleagues. Edwin’s family will receive relatives and friends from 9 to 10:30 on Saturday, January 16, 2020 at Somers Funeral Home, 354 Main St., Somers. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 10:30. Burial with military honors will follow at approximately 11:30 at St Patrick King St Cemetery in Enfield. Masks and social distancing are required for all attendees. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the discretion of the family.
