Obituary Chester Roy Mason known to many as “Chet Lee” was born November 11, 1947, in Charleston, MO to the union of Henry Mason and Flora Kent-Mason. He attended Charleston High School where he enjoyed baseball. Chester married his lovely wife Mary on June 19, 1967, and from this union they have five children: Cheryl, Kelvin, Lynette, Timothy, and Alicia. Chester loved his wife dearly and all his children. In 1971 Chester and Mary moved from St. Louis, MO to Benton Harbor, MI. Chester worked for Continental Can for many years. Carpentry, barbequing, chess, and fishing were his favorite activities to do with family and friends. Chester, Johnny (Pete) Mason and William Kent shared lots of memorable moments together, they were thick as thieves. Chester was a compassionate person, he loved children; they were the essence of who he was as a person. He was a protector of his loved ones especially of his sisters, Chester teased them all the time. Chester was a member of Old Path Church of God, Benton Harbor, Michigan under the leadership of Apostle Minus Thompson Sr. He was a pillar of the church; he was one of the key carpenters that helped with restoring the church. Chester leaves to cherish his memory: wife: Mary Mason; daughters: Cheryl Carter (Jeffery) of Benton Harbor, MI, Lynette Mason of Atlanta GA, Alicia Mason of Atlanta GA, Lynetta Garden of St. Louis, MO, LaPedra Evans of Scottsdale, AZ; sons: Kelvin Mason of Benton Harbor, MI, Timothy Mason (Kimyatta) of Benton Harbor, MI, and Chester Mason, Jr., of Cleveland, OH; a host of grandchildren (24); great grandchildren (22); (4) loving sisters: Marzella Cross, Mary Johnson, Martha Scott and Evelyn Tabor, all of St. Louis, MO; his dear Aunt Laura Getter; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Chester was preceded in death by his father, Henry Mason; mother, Flora Kent-Mason; brothers: Henry Jr., Napoleon Mason, Preston Mason, and Floyd Mason.
