Red Hook– Charles “Charlie” R. Schiavo, Jr., a Dutchess County Resident for over 20 years, formerly of Brewster and Dobbs Ferry, died on November 22, 2021, at Castle Point VA Medical Center. He was 73. Born in Dobbs Ferry on August 2, 1948, Charlie was the son of the late Charles Ralph and Anne (Knop) Schiavo, Sr. He proudly served in the US Army during Vietnam and was the recipient of the Purple Heart and Vietnam Service Medal with Four Bronze Stars. He was a Mechanic at Vail Chevrolet in Rye, NY. Charlie always loved working on cars. In addition, he was an avid fisherman and enjoyed gardening and watching sports. Charlie is survived by his children, Alyssa Schiavo of Walden, NY, Jason Schiavo of Kerhonkson, NY, Jessica Schiavo of Danbury, CT and Elizabeth Distefano (Vincent) of Fishkill, NY; his grandchildren, Ethan and Lukas; his siblings Gerald Schiavo (Terry), Timothy Schiavo, Lorraine Schiavo Addorisio and David Schiavo (Lori); as well as many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 3-5 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Service will follow at 5 pm in the funeral home. Burial will take place on Wednesday at 1:30 pm at Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 801 Route 9, Fishkill.
