It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that our beloved sister, aunt, and friend Berta Morales entered eternal rest on November 28, 2021. Berta was born in San Antonio, Texas to Jose G. and Maria (Garza) Morales. She is preceded in death by her parents; life-long friend, Jesse Rocha; brothers, Jose Camilo, Albert, and Jesse (Diana P. Morales). She leaves behind to cherish her memory her siblings Elida, Florentina, Rachel (Alejandro), Martha (Dell), Camilo (Martha), Joe (Leticia), and Mary Helen, Annie Morales and Babette Guajardo. Berta was a devoted daughter and sister, the matriarch in the family who answered the call at any given moment. She was the guiding force in our life that helped mold each one of us into who we are today. Her impact on our lives is so far reaching and immeasurable. Berta always work incredibly hard for the well-being of the family. Always concerned with the upkeep of the home and yard. Cleaning, dusting, and mopping were always important to Berta; she always encouraged her siblings to participate in these duties. Berta was a wonderful cook who enjoyed feasting with family and friends and whipping up a dessert in the spur of the moment. In her absence, we will cherish the memories of the many meals we enjoyed with her. She was a member of Jubilee Outreach Church, a strong Christian woman who never refused to help others in need. Her Christian faith and belief in Jesus Christ enabled her to be confident and steadfast with life. Upon graduation from San Antonio Tech High School in 1956, Berta obtained a bookkeeping degree from Durham Business College; working at the downtown Frost Brothers Department store and KUKA radio station as a bookkeeper for over 20 years. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, dancing, and listening to music. Berta will be greatly missed by all of her family, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends. The family would like to extend its gratitude to Monica Garcia, her home care provider, for her devoted assistance, care, and friendship she graciously provided to our beloved sister. The family would also like to extend its gratitude to the University Hospital staff and doctors for their wonderful care and concern in providing excellent care for our sister. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 12, 2021 from 5:30 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. with a prayer service to be held at 6:30 P.M. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. A funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, December 13, 2021 for an 11:00 A.M. graveside service at San Fernando II Catholic Cemetery.
