Obituary YORK—Ashley S. Hamer, 86, passed away Monday, December 20, 2021 at his residence in Manchester Township. He was the husband of Shirley W. (Wink) Hamer to whom he was married for 66 years. A Private Graveside Service will be held in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York is in charge of arrangements. Born January 16, 1935 in West Decatur, Clearfield County, he was a son of the late J. Walter and Bertha M. (Wisor) Hamer. He was employed with Caterpillar for 28 years until his retirement in 1996. Having served in the United States Air Force from 1957-1961 at Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter, SC, he was also a member of the United Auto Workers Union—Local 786, Shiloh American Legion and Hawks Gunning Club. In addition to his wife, Mr. Hamer is also survived by his son, Ricky A. Hamer and his wife, Loretta of Hanover. He was preceded in death by a son, Lonnie G. Hamer and eight sisters and one brother.
