Obituary Ardis Veneklase, age 93, of Grand Rapids. In the early morning hours of April 13, the angels came and took Ardis to her heavenly home. She is survived by her son, Brian Veneklase, and daughter, Sandy (Art) Hohendorf; grandchildren, Cole, Stephen, and Brian Hohendorf; brother, Edward Sheldon; and 45 nieces and nephews, and many friends. Ardis was preceded in death by her Husband Lloyd; her parents Edward and Grace Sheldon; brother, Paul Sheldon; sisters-in-law, Priscilla Sheldon and Marilyn Sheldon; and nephew, Timothy Sheldon. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary since 1957, and while she was there, she was a Stephen minister, on the bereavement committee, and an adoration chapel adorer. Ardis was involved with the discovery shop through the cancer society, she was always volunteering her time with various things, and she was an avid reader. Ardis was known for her love of her God and family, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Ardis had a laugh that lit up a room, had the virtue of an angel, the gift of being a true friend, a love of God that sustained her throughout her life. She was so loved and respected by all who knew her and although she will be dearly missed, we are consoled by knowing eternal joy is now hers. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Friday, April 16, from 6-8PM, with a time of prayers and sharing starting at 7:30PM, at Zaagman Memorial Chapel (2800 Burton St. SE). A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, April 14, at Immaculate Heart of Mary (1935 Plymouth Ave SE), at 11AM with an hour of visitation prior to the mass. If one wishes, a memorial contribution may be given to the Killgoar Foundation for IHM School (1935 Plymouth Ave SE) or a charity of one’s choice.
