Alice’s Obituary Alice A. Benter, 57, of Oelwein, Iowa died Sunday morning, December 26, 2021, at her home. Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 A.M. Thursday, December 30, 2021, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein with Fr. Ray Atwood officiating. Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 29, 2021, and from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Thursday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein. Inurnment: At a later date in Oran Township Cemetery, rural Oelwein. Alice Arlene Ricchio was born August 31, 1964, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Alex and Arlene Ardith (Blurton) Ricchio. She attended Oelwein Community Schools and later earned her GED. On February 23, 1983, she was united in marriage to Bob Benter at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein by Fr. Richard Kuhn. Over the years, Alice was employed as a cook at the Denver Sunset Home, Mercy Hospital, Grandview Healthcare Center and Manor Care. She enjoyed music, her dogs, and cats, watching the birds, decorating her home and cooking. Alice is survived by her husband: Bob Benter of Oelwein; 3 sons: Nathan Sparks of Copperas Cove, Texas, Lee Benter of Waterloo and Joe (Breanna) Benter of Oelwein; 3 grandchildren: Anastasia Sparks, Lucian Benter and Sophie Benter; 4 sisters: Sharonn (David) Morris of Oelwein, Mary (Terry) Bruns of Early, Cindy Stowe of Hazleton and Barb (Norm) Stenzel of La Crosse, Wisconsin; 2 brothers: Andy (Rose) Ricchio of Cody, Wyoming and Alex Ricchio of Oelwein; mother-in-law: Patricia Benter of Oelwein; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents: Alex and Arlene Ricchio; a sister at infancy: Patricia Ricchio; and 2 brothers: Mike Ricchio and Tom Ricchio.
