Wayne was a devoted father, loyal brother, supportive uncle, car, music, and golf enthusiast, and die-hard Tar Heel fan. Wayne was born in Wingate, North Carolina on December 31, 1953 to JB and Ruth Davis Stegall. He graduated from both Wingate University and Appalachian State University. Additionally, he received a master’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After teaching at Greensboro College, Wayne began a second career as the owner of a successful DJ business. For more than 20 years, he helped families celebrate some of life’s greatest milestones, such as weddings, birthdays, and proms. In his free-time, Wayne spent countless hours supporting his family’s activities and spoiling his four-legged best friends. He had a strong Christian faith and was most known for his smart and witty personality. Wayne is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Phillips (Cramer) and Jaimee Stegall; two sisters, Betty Weycker and Anne Sutton (Dave); brother, Richard Stegall (Beth); step-mother, Mary Stegall; 4 nephews, 4 nieces, 5 great nephews, and 1 great niece; step brothers, Mike Lathan (Luanna) and Scott Lathan (Kathy); step sisters, Janet Efird (Jimmy) and Terri McBryde (Joe). The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Wayne’s supporting and loving friends and neighbors. Memorials can be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation, via their website. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Wayne will be held 2 PM Monday, September 21, 2020 at Midway Baptist Church, 4615 Olive Branch Road, Wingate, NC, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
