Edmund’s Obituary Edmund was born on 8 March 1928 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He attended grade school at St. Bonaventure and St. Stephens Schools in Philadelphia, and graduated from St. Vincent Preparatory School in Latrobe, Pennsylvania in 1946. In August of that year, Edmund enlisted in the Army as a Private in Philadelphia, and was then sent to Fort Knox, Kentucky, for Basic Armored Infantry Training School for two months. He was then assigned to Chin Hae, Korea, where he served as a Company Clerk with Headquarters Battery, 6th Field Artillery Division (155mm Howitzer), from November 1946 to June 1947. During Edmund’s time in Chin Hae, he primarily performed guard duties. In June 1947 Edmund was transferred to Ascom City in Korea where he was assigned to the 503rd Engineer Battalion, 24th Army Corps, as a Supply NCO until June 1948. He then returned to the States and was discharged from the Army in Philadelphia on 3 July 1948. For his service in Korea, Edmund was awarded the Army of Occupation Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and Korean Appreciation Medal. After his discharge, Edmund returned to live in Philadelphia while he attended the Pennsylvania Military College at Chester, Pennsylvania, and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics in June 1952. He then moved to Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania, where he lived until 1968. Edmund worked for Commercial Credit Corporation in Chester from 1952 until 1954 and Philadelphia National Bank from 1954 to 1977. He attended The Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers in 1966. In 1968, Edmund moved to Broomall, Pennsylvania, until 1977, when he moved to Coopersburg, Pennsylvania, to work for Union Bank & Trust in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, until he retired in 1982. In the same year he moved to Lower Macungie Township and in 1984 to Emmaus, Pennsylvania. In his earlier years, Edmund’s hobby was aerobatic flying. Edmund married Joan McCormick (born 5 April 1929). His parents were Gus Tunitis (1890 – 1987), who was born in Lithuania, and Jeannette Elizabeth King (1900 – 1991).
